S/L-c.1918 Linen and Hand-Sewn Eyelet French Wedding Gown

$525.00
c.1918 fine linen wedding gown with hand sewn eyelet work and an Irish lace collar. The dress has closures added to the waist, but original closure is composed of hidden carved shell buttons up the back with decorative crochet covered buttons. There is a matching sash with decorative crochet covered buttons with hook and snap closures.

Provenance: this was purchased at an antique sale from a lady who purchased it from another antique dealer back in 2000 who purchased it in France some 50+ years ago. Unfortunately there is no written provenance, only word of mouth.

Condition: excellent antique condition with some small repairs at the shoulders. This dress was heavily, yet skillfully let out at some point, possibly in the 1930’s based on the added waist closures. If you look closely in person, there are added panels at the sides and underarms, extending down the sleeves. There is evidence that this was let out at the waist as well, which is nice now that it can be worn by more modern sizes.

Measurements: shown on 5’10” model, 36” bust, 32” waist

Bust up to 40”
Waist up to 36”
Hips up to 42”
(Please keep in mind that this is meant to fit a little loosely)
17” shoulder seam to seam
54” shoulder to hem taken flat
