Antique handmade silk-lined double-sided tufted purse dating from about the 1930's/40's or earlier. This fine folk art piece was made using scraps of fabric, thus the purse features the same pattern on either side, but a differing color scheme. The handles are carved wood, possibly oak. The purse is backed with woven twine or jute, and the tufting appears to be done with rayon-knit scraps.
Excellent antique condition with damage to the lining and general wear due to age. since the lining is antique silk it has begun to decay and tear in some places, shown in the last listing photo.
The purse measures 16" wide and about 11.5" tall including the handles.
